Though Keaton never reveals the villain's name, it's believed to be Vandemere.

Michael Keaton took to “Good Morning America” this morning to promote the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” During the show, the veteran actor unexpectedly announced one of his upcoming roles. He will be playing the villain in Disney’s live-action remake of its animated classic, “Dumbo.”

"I hear you might reunite with Tim Burton for Dumbo?" Asked one of the show's hosts.

"I am reuniting with Tim Burton, yeah," Keaton replied, before also confirming he will be playing a villain in the forthcoming movie.

"I know [me playing a villain] is getting old," he added. "It's a beautiful costume.

"You just want to be around [Burton]. You want to be in his sphere because he's original and unique and an artist."

While Keaton didn’t go into any detail about his Dumbo character, he’s reportedly going to play Vandemere, an exploitative circus owner who is looking to obtain a smaller circus operation from Medici (Danny DeVito) whose attractions include the famed flying elephant. Burton alum Eva Green is also attached to the film to play Collette, a French trapeze artist in Vandermere’s circus; and Colin Farrell is reportedly attached to play the lead role of a widower with two children.

Disney has been struggling some to fill out the cast for the Dumbo remake with A-list stars for a while now. Tom Hanks was reportedly offered the role of Vandemere back in January. After that Will Smith dropped out of negotiations to play Volt, the father of the two children who develop a friendship with the lovable elephant after seeing him at the circus. Following Smith’s exit, the studio began eyeing Colin Farrell to play Volt, but the actor has yet to be confirmed.

Michael Keaton has recently appeared on the big screen in The Founder, Spotlight and Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). He will soon be seen in American Assassin.
